The Sky's The Limit was written in 2014 to celebrate the centennial of the Jane K. Sather Tower, the central landmark of the University of California at Berkeley.
While the work incorporates the carillon, it is merely one of many mallet percussion instruments, not a predominant one. Because of the volume the carillon generates, the percussion instruments may be multiplied and amplified (or both) in order to put the carillon in its proper place, so to speak.
