Snowy Egret In Moonlight was written in 2011.  I was intrigued by the Japanese aesthetic categories:  Wabi (transient beauty), Saba (the beauty of aging), and Yugen (grace and subtlety).  I wondered how I might translate Yugen into musical terms.  I looked for images that, for the Japanese, embodied Yugen, and the image of a snowy egret in moonlight was one of the most powerful for me.  Hence the title.
